William Darrell

William Darrell is a recent graduate from the Royal college of art where he studied sculpture. After graduating he was awarded a residency at Yorkshire sculpture park where he was given funds to make new work. The result is his contribution to the  Bread and Jam exhibition.

“Art is a means to invent. The resulting apparatus are designed to achieve miraculous happenings, machines that manifest the will, holding together just long enough…
Art has allowed me to explore many areas of interest such as electrostatic sculpture, musical instruments, pyrotechnic archery, geodesic dwellings, party popper gatling cannons, and glasses that make reality even more 3D. I am a deep sea diver, fireball, death ray, prosthetic aided shoplifter, and recently I became a wind turbine and generated my own lightning.”
